Atascadero Middle School Visit

Cal Poly SWE visited Ms. DiSanti’s classrooms at Atascadero Middle School on October 11th, 2019 to teach students about aerospace engineering. We discussed the definition of engineering and the importance of the engineering design process across all disciplines, before exploring the amazing opportunities within aerospace engineering! With a focus on impact forces and drag forces, the students designed, built, and tested alien space landers to rescue the aliens from their ship! With the help of everyday materials such as index cards, straws, tape, and a lot of problem solving skills, students built several innovative landers and a further interest in the inventions that fly in and out of our atmosphere.
